This week Mrs. Sarah and Ms. Katie helped children make twirly sticks. Any activity bags left over will be available at the Front Desk while supplies last. Coming up this week we are making a life-size Self Portrait together with Friendship Bracelets. Librarian Sherri is encouraging everyone to read a nature story this week.

            Remember to turn in your Coloring Contest entry! Extra copies are available at the Library Front Desk. Entries are due by 5 PM on Thursday July 29. Two winners will be announced on Friday, July 30. This year’s prize is some awesome Library Summer Reading Program Swag. Our Coloring contest prize will be awarded Thursday, July 29.

 The Library cares about your children and has planned programs to keep them reading and learning all summer. Whether keeping track of the amount of time your children spend reading or the number of books they have read this summer, children who join the summer library program keep their brains active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed. And remember, you are your child’s first teacher. Look at picture books with your children who have not learned to read and point out people, animals, and objects in the pictures. Read to your children and ask them to read to you. Your librarian will be happy to help you find books that are just right. We hope that you and your family enjoy looking at books and reading together and that you discover the treasures of your library.

Summer is a great time to build and create and have fun with friends! Your local library is the Perfect place to help your imagination take off! Join us this summer for books, activities and fun…together we can demonstrate how Reading Colors Your World. Normal Library hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10 – 5; Thursday 1 – 7; Saturday from 10 – 2.
