Library Advisory Board Minutes
February 22, 2017
Members of the Library Advisory Board met this day in regular session at the Brownsville Library in the Kirk Room, Brownsville, Oregon, at 4:00 PM.
*Present: Chairperson Jennifer Ashcraft, Joey Running, Kristin Whitehead, Gwen Landon and Barbara DeRobertis and Librarian Sherri Lemhouse, and Administrative Assistant Jannea Deaver.
Presiding: Jennifer Ashcraft
Mrs. Ashcraft called the meeting to order. As a first item of business Mrs. Landon made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 12, 2017 meeting as presented by recording secretary Sherri Lemhouse. Mrs. Running seconded the motion. The minutes were approved by all.
Librarian Sherri reported that she is working to purchase new computers for the public to use. One computer has completely stopped working and the other two have fans that are failing. The Library celebrated Valentine’s Day with the Parents and Pals group. We had a special story time followed by a simple craft. The parents and children were all appreciative of this fun time together. March is LEGO Display month. I am encouraging children of all ages to bring in their LEGO creations to be on display in our cases. This is the first year our Library is participating in the Oregon Reader’s Choice Awards. This is divided up into three divisions: 3-5; 6-8; 9-12. There are 8 books in each division. Participants need to read at least 2 books in their chosen division and then vote for their favorite. This is another fun way to find a new book.
Mrs. Deaver reported that the City Administrator has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to replace the Library roof. The City just received the third response this afternoon.
Members discussed the upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. They divided up tasks evenly and set to the individual’s strength. The Soup Salad and Sweets will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 4:30 – 6 pm.
There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be Thursday, March 9, 2017 in the Kirk Community Room at the library.
