Study Club Donates to Local Libraries

Library Receives Donation    The Brownsville Women's Study Club raised over $1800 in March when the group held a benefit for our local libraries. The event was entitled Musical Treats and around 100 people filled the Brownsville Community Church (the historic Brownsville Presbyterian Church) to enjoy the music of local musical artists. It is hoped that this will be an annual event for this community.

Last week Joni Nelson visited the Central Linn Elementary School Library, the central Linn High School Library and the Brownsville Library to present each with a $600 check to use for the purchase of books and materials.Karen Smith at CLES stated that she would be purchasing audio books called Playaways, which many children now enjoy, using headphones. JoLynn Walton, the CLHS librarian was equally happy with the organization for the donation. Librarian Sherri Lemhouse at the Brownsville Library said there is always a need for money to purchase books. All three expressed their appreciation for the donations.

The Brownsville Woman's Study Club founded the Brownsville Library 101 years ago when the club was entitled, the Brownsville Women's Self Improvement Club. The club members continue to support our libraries and reading 100 plus years later.
