Good afternoon!

The Brownsville Community Library is a happening place! So many of you have joined us for Story Time and the Summer Reading Program. What with all the stories we have read and crafts we have done, WHEW! What fun! We will be reading with Mrs. Warthen this Friday followed by craft time with Mrs. Thea! Hurray! Last week we created pictures with pasta. . . Then Mrs. Thea brought out the glitter glue. The children had such fun passing the different colors around and learning to ‘use just a little!’ Story Times are Friday at 11 followed by craft time until noon. Then on Tuesday morning we have a short Story Time with the Parents and Pals group at 10:15 am. This is followed by play time in the Brownsville Park (weather permitting) or the Rec Center during inclement weather.

Red Yarn ProductionsAs a treat from our Summer Reading Program, we have invited RED YARN Puppets to the Library on Friday, September 27 beginning at 2 pm. Mr. Furgeson will be performing his production of ‘The Deep Woods’.  RED YARN PRODUCTIONS is a folk music and puppetry company based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2011 by performer and teaching artist Andy Furgeson, RYP creates high quality musical puppet shows and educational programs for schools, libraries, venues, and community events. RED YARN is a dynamic children’s performer, weaving live music, puppetry and interactive storytelling into engaging shows for family audiences. Whether performing solo or with the Red Yarn Puppet Band, the red-bearded bard teaches positive values while reinvigorating American folklore for younger generations. Join us on Friday, September 27 beginning at 2 pm in the Brownsville Community Library!

Have you ever wondered if you have family that lived in America during the Revolutionary War? The Daughters of the American Revolution will be coming to our Library on Thursday, September 12. Drop by between 1 and 3 pm to find out. More information coming soon!

If that gets your curiosity started, why not learn more about your genealogy in our Beyond the Basics classes beginning Friday, October 4. This class will be Fridays in October from 11 – 1 pm in the Kirk Room. It is a free class, but Mr. Smith will be assigning homework! J
