Sherring Books

Thank you to all who supported this year’s Annual Friends of the Brownsville Community Library Book Sale! We had a stupendous sale! We raised $525 for our library. This money will be used to purchase new books for our patrons. Volunteers donated 40 hours setting up, attending and putting away. The majority of the remainder books were taken to St. Vincent de Paul in Eugene for resale or recycling. We saved a box of children’s books to give to Central Linn Head Start and a box of paperbacks to give to the Linn County Jail Library.

It is the Friends mission to enhance the library patrons’ experience. In the past year, the Friends have purchased 24 audio books and 43 books for both children and adults along with purchasing covering materials to make these books available for checkout. They have also supported the Summer Reading Program with funding and volunteers. The Friends meet in the Library on the first Friday of each month beginning at 10 am. Dues for the year are $1 or $50 for a lifetime membership. ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’  ~Margaret Meade
