Turn in your creation to the front desk! We will be displaying Lego and KNex creations during the month of March.

It’s LEGO™ and K’NEX™ time again! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I am very excited to see your creativity. Bring in your creation to the Brownsville Library on Friday, February 26 or Saturday February 27, 2015 and we’ll put them on display.  Creations should be no bigger than 10 inches X 12 inches. This will allow us to be able to place your fantastic creation in our display cases.

Fine motor skills are just the beginning of the skills that children learn by playing with Legos and K’Nex. Pattern practice and sorting are part of any basic Kindergarten math curriculum. As any adult knows following the directions that come with a set of blocks requires perseverance, patience and everyone is rewarded by an excellent result that can be pulled apart and remade over and over. Children learn fractions while playing with whole pieces, half and quarters. Physics and engineering are being employed to build the bridge or tower. Just think of the three dimensional thinking! WOW all from just a little block.

These brilliant creations will be on display through the month of March here in the Library Display Cases. Participants will be able to take home their creation beginning on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. If they are not picked up by April 16, 2015 they will become part of the Librarian’s toy set.
