It is my privilege to tell you about the Brownsville Library.  Did you know that only four libraries in Oregon are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year?  They are Brownsville, Bandon, Elgin and Vale.  Our library will be celebrating this century event with a tea and cake party on Saturday, May 7 beginning at 10 am.  At 5:30 pm, local author Rod Fielder - presenting as Oregon Bill - will be giving a key note address honoring the importance of the library in our community.  This is a free event and one that the whole family can enjoy.

Also, because of this event our Friends of the Library have made a Centennial Quilt.  This quilt will be up for silent auction beginning Saturday, May 7.  The minimum bid is $500.  This historic quilt has been sponsored by the following local businesses; Advanced Mechanical, Andrew Wenger Construction, Brownsville Pharmacy, Calapooia Gardens, Carlson Hardware, Sayer and Son, and The Times.
